Three Reasons Not to use QR Codes

Reasons not market your business with QR Codes

Within the past few months there has been a lot of buzz about QR codes also known as Quick Response codes. Almost every magazine is using them in advertising, newspapers are including them in their real estate ads, and major retailers such as Best Buy are using them on almost all of their products throughout the store. Almost every where you look, there is a QR code.

Reason #1 - Engaging with my audience is not important

You are probably thinking, "So what? My organization is not going to use quick response codes because using that technology to engage with my customer is not important. We have been in business for a long time and we have been using traditional marketing to reach our customers for several years."

Reason #2 - QR Codes are not necessary - We put our website on our printed materials

Or you may be thinking "Why would off line content need to be linked to online content about a product or service? If they want to visit my website they can just type in the URL. We put our website address on all of our e-mails and printed materials, this is enough for us."

Reason #3 - ROI is not important

Another reason you might be not using quick response codes is because ROI is not important. Spending large amounts of money on traditional marketing is no big deal and upper management just wants to make sure you are spending those marketing dollars according to the plan that you have been using for the past 150 years. Why change it now?
