Local restaurants and Heinz have partnered to honor veterans via QR codes placed on the back of ketchup bottles.
When the QR code on the Heinz ketchup bottle is scanned, it leads to a mobile web page that allows users to send a special, "Thank You" e-card to a veteran. Heinz will donate $1 to the Wounded Warrior Project for each "Thank You" sent to a veteran. Heinz will also donate additional money if the user shares the donation mobile site using social media, specifically Facebook and Twitter.
I was excited to see that a well known brand saw the value in using QR codes to help a charity. This campaign was very well implemented and the placement on a commonly used product was an awesome idea. Heinz gets a thumbs up for a good campaign that helps a good cause.
